Every year I fumble through the holidays with heartfelt intentions to spread joy, bring comfort and fa-la-la-la with the best of them. I like to think that I walk the talk but after all the hustle and bustle and baking and eating – I can barely move by the time New Year’s Eve rolls around let alone muster the positive gusto to devise solid resolutions. I always purchase the Barnes and Noble desk calendar and spend an exorbitant amount of time marveling at the possibilities of 365 empty days waiting to be experienced. However, while I will continue to write my 2012 affirmations and goals, making adjustments as circumstances evolve – this year, I have also vowed to try something a little bit different.
As I type this blog, there are 52 weeks spread out before me to simplify my life and strengthen my soul and I fully intend to make the most of this ride. I don’t know if 2012 will be the Mayan’s big show but for me, this year will be all about creative and spiritual growth. In the process, I will aspire to elevate myself and transcend to a new level. I will seek to find mystical experiences in the grind of everyday and squeeze some metaphysical truth from the mundane. Maybe financial difficulties plague you, loneliness haunts you, or you’ve just lost your way – in that case, I hope the journey of 2012 illuminates a new path for you to walk. Learn something new, eliminate unnecessary time thieves, walk away from the negative and uncover a deeper happiness this year!
